Over the years, Mr. Dunstan has enjoyed an expansive range of financial service experience in the areas of life & health insurance, mutual funds & annuities, stocks & bonds, and group benefits & pensions. Currently, his energies are channeled into retirement and estate planning focusing on asset management with reduced investment risk strategies and analyses. According to Mr. Dunstan, "successful planning is only achieved when clients truly increase the quality of their lives by effectively creating wealth, preserving wealth, and distributing wealth through the maze of lifestyle needs as they utilize the appropriate probate, inheritance tax, and long-term care options. As an independent financial consultant, I help clients put all of these planning strategies in perspective and actually apply the right strategies to their individual needs to maximize wealth potential".
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
William Dunstan began his financial planning career in 1986 working for The Prudential as an agent and registered representative. As opportunities emerged, Mr. Dunstan joined the independent firm of Frederick & Associates in 1987 and he practiced in Dutchess and Westchester counties. From 1990 to 1996, this group became one with Marshall Sterling’s Financial Planning & Benefits Division and thereafter it became Retirement Asset Management, Inc. Presently, this group is known as Prime Retirement Asset Management, Inc. (PRAM) doing business as "Prime Wealth Management". PRAM provides independent financial, tax, investment, and estate planning where Mr. Dunstan is a Registered Representative with BRWM and Investment Advisor Representative with BRWA.
EDUCATION
William D. Dunstan began his financial studies in 1978 at Dutchess Community College in Poughkeepsie, New York as an accounting major. Several years later, he continued his commitment to education and enrolled in the American College of Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania to eventually complete The Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) and the Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC) programs with subsequent approval to utilize these professional designations. Mr. Dunstan has multi-state health, annuity licenses and maintains securities Series 6,7, & 63 licenses, as well. He is a member of the Financial Planning Association (FPA), the Society of Financial Service Professionals (FSP), and the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors (NAIFA).
PERSONAL PROFILE
William D. Dunstan began his civic involvement as a Boy Scout in 1976, and he attained the Boy Scouts of America’s highest honor – Eagle Scout. From 1981 to 1984, he served as a Lieutenant for the LaGrange Emergency Squad, and from 1981 to 1992 he served as an active volunteer fireman. In 1992, he was honored with the status of Life Member of the Lagrange Fire Department. His commitment continues with youth and collegiate athletics and membership on several boards/committees as a volunteer giving back to our communities. More specifically, Bill devotes much of his philanthropic time to developmental disabilities.
He and his wife Debra are natives of the Hudson Valley and make home Lagrangeville, NY where they enjoy their two children, daughter-in-law and three grandchildren.
